Achievements with giant hammers and unlockable soundtracks? I wouldn't mind.

An anonymous developer revealed that the Wii U features a console-wide achievement system. This system is said to have a “Nintendo-spin” on it that “tracks gamer-time, scores and more.”

As with all stories sourced from anonymous developers refusing to name themselves, take it with a healthy dose of salt. Nintendo have not exactly had the warmest attitude towards achievement systems in the past, but they have implemented them into some of their biggest releases like Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Wii Sports Resort. Anything is possible, especially in the final days leading up to E3.

According to a NeoGAF user called “Shikamaru Ninja”, one of the first-party games being in development for Wii U might be something we didn’t think of yet. He claims it’s something that has already been mentioned in speculative discussions, and further emphasizes it’s “[not] Mario or Zelda or Pokemon related”, while assuming it probably won’t sell well.

Furthermore, when asked if this game was a racing game, he negates it, but hints at “a couple of first-party racing games [going to be] announced for Wii U and 3DS at E3″. Another member asked to be quoted if the game is either Luigi’s Mansion 2, a sequel to Eternal Darkness or a Star Fox game, but Shikamaru Ninja doesn’t respond, and even declares the Battalion Wars franchise “as good as dead” later in the discussion. Of course, these two last bits might be a distraction, as he didn’t actively rule out anything – “as good as dead” isn’t entirely dead, mind you, and he might have simply missed that other post.

GoNintendo have reported that this information has come from “a trusted source.” The source didn’t specify what the game would be.

The rumour also claims that the Wii U was able to run the game at 30-35 FPS in 720p HD. It was also claimed that the Crytek employee thinks the Wii U can run Crysis at 1080p HD if the controller is turned off. However, they were unable to test out that theory as they couldn’t turn the controller off with the dev kit they had. The controller itself is apparently able to stream the game at 480p. The game was said to have great lighting and particle effects on par with the PC version.

If this is true it certainly adds new discussions for the Wii U ‘power debate’ but I would suggest that you take this rumour with a truckload of salt.

Pictures have surfaced on the internet listing several upcoming Wii U games. The pictures were apparently taken by an employee of Blockbuster UK and show a list of Wii U games on the Blockbuster database.

Most of the titles are ones that have already been announced but there are some interesting additions such as Splinter Cell, Shield Pose and Zombie.

Earlier this year, ONM seemed to tease that they had insider information that Retro Studios were working on a new Star Fox game.

Now, the website Techtroid have been told by their sources that a new Star Fox game is in the works and will be revealed at E3 2012. The source explained that though the Wii U game would be shown at E3 it would not be a launch title for Nintendo’s new home console.

After rickonami’s HD remake of the classic Star Fox intro I am feverishly awaiting a high definition  game for our favourite fox and so it will be interesting to see if these rumours are true.

Apparently the site was told ‘in private’ that a LostWinds game was in developement for the Wii U and Live Gen also reported that recent job postings by the site hinted that they were working on ‘next gen’ consoles.

Like all rumours I would take this with a pinch of salt and because most of this information is being deduced from Google Translate I would approach this information hesitantly. However, it’s not an unbelievable rumour as LostWinds was originally developed for WiiWare so a sequel on the Wii successor’s own download service does seem plausible.

Now more TimeSplitters 4 rumours have surfaced, this time Offical Xbox Magazine’s sources have told them that they have seen the TimeSplitters 4 game running.

Trusted OXM sources have claimed that they’ve seen TimeSplitters 4 running. That’s no guarantee that it’ll be released – at least one version of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 was cancelled without ever being announced – but it’s a promising sign. If we do get a proper sequel, we’re likely to see the old games appear, too.

As with all rumours they are best eaten with a pinch of salt, hopefully E3 2012 will clear up these TimeSplitters 4 rumours.

A new rumor is floating around, coming from a Dutch press release said to have come from Ubisoft themselves,  saying, “Assassin’s Creed III is available as from October 31 on Xbox 360 ®, PlayStation ® 3, Wii U™ and PC.”

However, this differs from the press release in North America which offers no release date for Assassin’s Creed III. This news comes from the same press release which mentioned how many pre-orders for the game have been made within its first three weeks available. If this statement is true, it would either mean the game will be released on three of the four platforms on October 31st, not including the Wii U, or that the Wii U will be released prior to October 31st.

Although Nintendo has made a statement saying the Wii U will be released around this years holiday season, a date before October 31st does seem a bit early for the Wii U’s release. Currently, the release date is only a rumor as the Dutch press release does in fact differ from other Ubisoft press releases.

Will Overstrike come to the Wii U?

I’m quite sceptical of this piece of news, as I am with all rumours, and I would advise you to take this one with a pinch of salt. But it is still worth mentioning.

According to GameOn.net’s sources, a Dead Space game will be making its way to the Wii U. The source is apparently a concept artist for a game development studio associated with Electronic Arts and they have told GameOn that a new Dead Space game will be coming to the Wii U as well as other consoles. However, this game will not be shown at E3. Last year, a job listing for Dead Space did reveal the game would be coming to the PS3, Xbox 360 and an ‘unannounced’ console.

GameOn have also been told by their anonymous sources that TimeSplitters 4 will be making its way to the Wii U as well as other platforms and that the game will be announced at E3. Last but not least, the website has heard that Overstrike, developed by Insomniac Games, is also coming to the Wii U.

When asked last year by Industry Gamers whether the Wii U would receive Overstrike,  CEO of Insomniac Games, Ted Price, said “you never know”.
