Team Ninja plans to push the Wii U “as hard as it can”

A couple of weeks ago, Peter Garza, the head of localization at Tecmo Koei, told VG247 that the Wii U version of Ninja Gaiden 3 wasn’t being developed alongside the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, and that development had only just started. He stated that this was because Team Ninja wants to push the Wii U as “hard as it can” and that they’re still learning just what the hardware can do.

…And we really wanted to use whatever hardware we were on, we want to use to its full potential and really push that. Not just in spec, but the features that make that hardware unique. So for right now with Wii U, we’re just starting to know what Wii U is and how we can make it fun.

So it seems that, rather than just porting the game over, Team Ninja is trying to exploit as much power and functionality as they can out of Nintendo’s console. Considering what they did with Dead or Alive: Dimensions and Metroid: Other M, I can only expect this to be one of the best-looking Wii U games to be released early in its life.

excellent, but i wish other people could see this, not just people like me who have already decided they were getting the console. still its useful to know because it helps me decide what to get when the console is released 🙂

I knew I would read something like this, and I wish every developer do the same 😀

I’ve just tested the Open beta of Battlefield 3, and I’m really thinking about getting Battlefield 3 for Wii U, if they plan to release the game for it. The 2 main reasons are that:
1)- I’ve always played shooters for PC and I think they play better with keyboard and mouse, but the Wii U looks different on my eyes, I have a feeling that the controller is just awesome for shooters (Even though some guys think the opposite)

2)- The BF3 beta was buggy and stuff and they’re not planning to delay the launch (I know it was only a beta), that’s why I’m afraid that maybe they can’t work out all the bugs.

I think that EA may have plenty of time to push the Wii U capability to it’s limits too, and exploit the unique controls Nintendo is offering. (Ea is really happy with Wii U, for me this is good news :D)

Excited about what developers will do with the Wii U

I’m just hoping all these developers’ version of “different” is more than a direct port with a few added minigames for the touch screen. I want them to really utilize this new controller to allow us to become even more immersed in the game. More than a standard dual analog controller ever could. Sure, the Wii has that potential, but this time around is a little different. A little bigger.
