The Wii U’s design is almost final

This is probably what we will get when the Wii U releases.

Like how the Wii U’s controller looks? If you do then you might be happy to learn that the Wii U’s design is pretty much final. While speaking to VentureBeat Reggie Fils-Aime (Nintendo of America) explained that they had nearly reached the final form that the Wii U’s controller will be.

“In terms of the form factor of the console, it is quite near final,” Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime told VentureBeat. “Similarly the form factor of the controller is quite near final.”

So it seems that what we are seeing now is basically what we will be getting that joyous day when we finally get our eager hands on the Wii U sometime next year.

i am pretty happy the way it is, but ninty needs to change the shoulder buttons in to triggers and click-able analog sticks, they are really getting a lot of complaints about this.

    • Jmaster720

TBH the only thing I hate about the controller is the placement of the analog sticks…or “Pads” I should say oh and the name Wii U 😛

  2. day game dreamer

analog sticks that also act as a button ARE THE BIGGEST JOKE YET ,its adds more discomfort and complexity to already stupid dual shocks

wen tying out kill zone 2 on my brothers ps3 i was hating the DEAD analog feel compared to cube pad and wave bird and nunchucks and hating the no wii remote outdated controls then i said how do i do this , he replied press the analog stick PRESS WHAT I SAID,he said press the analog

i did and as i pressed it i pushed it as well CANNOT BE HELPED and totally lost control

TALK ABOUT TAPPING YOUR HEAD AND RUBBING YOUR BELLY AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!!!!!
its adding another button to controllers with TOO MANY BUTTONS ALREADY clicking a stick is uncomfortable very hard to master and frankly just DUMB nintendo will never ever do that to a controller a analog stick is for charactor movment in 3d space AND NOTHING MORE

pressing the stick what nest rubbing the touch screen with your nose nintendo makes good conttollers

not out dayrd ones with added buttons

  3. Good news and bad news

Yes, I’ve seen this on various comments boards around. I really do tire of the whining about anything that is different, from so-called “gamers”. Firstly the video of the gameplay for “killer freaks from outer space”, showed one of the most analogue control systems ever devised, secondly, the Wii U has more possible control schemes than any other console.

Touch-screen, gyro, and buttons on the new controller, the classic controller, CC pro, the balance board and the Wiimote and nunchuck. If one of these doesn’t suit a player then they only have “kinect” as an allternative. I believe that that system will start using a Wiimote-like device with buttons sooner or later.

No complaints here! The Wii U and its remote are quit the interesting and clever pieces of technology, and I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on one that’s for sure! Even if the wait may end up being rather long, I shall manage and be that much more excited when the time finally comes to get one.

    Err?

Don’t know if you are pissed at my post Day game dreamer, but mine wasn’t anything to do with your first post here. In fact though it seems to have been posted well before mine, it wasn’t showing when I made mine. I was simply agreeing with what Zxride64 was saying about all the complaints on various boards, that the controller didn’t have sticks or analogue triggers.

  7. zxride64

Whoa, Dream game dreamer, i understand how you feel, i don’t get why the screaming and shouting about those little details, but people are complaining about nintendo being backwards and i can’t take that anymore.

  8. day game dreamer

wii owners spent 5 years controlling cameras and aiming with a pick up and play easy to learn mouse

ubisoft responed by showing 2 shooters with stick aiming on a wiiu AND YOU THINK THE INDUSTRY GIVES A SHIT ABOUT YA

    WAKE UP

LOL @ pressing the analog stick!! buy a sony for that sillyness… i mean stupid controls will always be stupid controls , there’s people complaining post 1 says, yes and there called ms and Sony fanboys______ who don’t know diddle shit______

theres a .2 inch screen on that screen cold be say 6 action windows lag free from a stylus and still room for stylus aiming and camera (think DS) then theres 2 triggers and a anlog stick plus stylus swipes and menu all in real time

the point im making and clearly supporting daydreamer is there’s a right way and there’s a sony way

  11. I’ve been an avid Nintendo fan my entire life and no one was more excited about the announcement of the Wii U more than myself. But.. I absolutely hate this.

Wii U… really? Expanding upon the already diminishing Wii novelty is lack of creativity in my opinion. You mean I can only have ONE tablet? Screw that. You mean I have to keep using Wii remotes for the next 7 years (or whenever the NEXT console will be released). Wii is not a brand that can last that much longer. The Wii U is comparable NOW to the Xbox and Playstation… how will it ever compete in 3 years?

Piggybacking hardware to a unit that looks like a wii already and having to pay 400 dollars (give or take) for it?? …..and oh yea I already mentioned that you can only use ONE stupid tablet.

    Good luck, Nintendo…….. pshh…

I could go on.. but I’ve lost my train of thought.

I agree. Nintendo is the best game company out there in my opinion, as they started out some 100 years ago as a card company and have since rose above the ranks into first place. It also comes to mind that they were the ones who brought video games back out there a while ago and that ever since they began to make video games, rival companies have copied Nintendo’s ideals one way or another (and example being how similar Sony’s PlayStation Move is to Nintendo’s Wii Mote and its style of game play) and I always find myself saying “If Nintendo wasn’t there to bring video gaming out of the gutter, none of the other game systems would be here today period.” I don’t have anything against the people who prefer Sony or Microsoft, but those are my ideals and I stay by them.

MARLO: “Expanding upon the already diminishing Wii novelty is lack of creativity in my opinion.”

Lack of creativity? By doing something no one else has done?

“You mean I can only have ONE tablet? Screw that.”

You know another console that is offering more than one?

“You mean I have to keep using Wii remotes for the next 7 years (or whenever the NEXT console will be released).” Or a classic controller, classic controller pro, balance board, touch-screen, gyros, camera, microphones…

“The Wii U is comparable NOW to the Xbox and Playstation… how will it ever compete in 3 years?” A; we don’t know exactly what it is capable of yet and B; I’m sure Nintendo have thought about this too, they’ve been at this a while you know.

If you don’t like Nintendo’s latest offering, no one is forcing you to buy, or even bitch about it.

  14. zxride64

I am really regretting posting my first comment.

    • Epic Kirby

      lol

    • Mariomaster1

Hey man, that’s your own opinion so stick by it….if people don’t seem to like it then that’s their own problem, not yours. So yeah, the issues you pointed out do stand but as long as most of the Nintendo fans enjoy this as it is then that’s all Nintendo cares about…….fans happy= Mission Accomplished!

I believe the Wii U Headphone port/socket may be better situated at the button of the controller; the cord of headphones running along the side, or across the front, or along the back of the controller could pose discomfort, if even slightly during game play. I believe the Wii U could controller could benefit from a mic input or and USB port for the use of a headset.

I am aware the headphone jack may incur damage if the user elevates the controller on a flat surface or on their lap. Perhaps the headphone socket could be angled accordingly to counter this?!?

I am continually grateful for Nintendo’s ongoing commitment to excellence in producing highly entertaining games.
