Nintendo: Wii U will “bring back the core gamer”

In an interview with NintendoGal, Nintendo of America’s director of marketing seemed pretty confident that the Wii U would bring back the ‘core gamer’

“The Wii U and some of the games we showcased at our E3 Media Briefing will definitely bring back the core gamer,” Amber McCollom, director of marketing said. “A number of titles we showed from our 3rd parties will definitely get people excited,” she commented.

In the same interview, McCollom also let slip that GameCube titles will be available to download for the Wii U. However, Nintendo have failed to confirm this.

“Actually the GameCube discs will not be compatible with Wii U, but a number of the games that were playable on GameCube can be downloaded from WiiWare.”

    No it won’t

Someone didn’t eat their Cheerio’s this mornin’.

I’m just saying it won’t bring them back, the 3DS isn’t bringing them back so why would the Wii U? Nintendo has lost them face it.

Just wait till the end of this year for the 3ds, then we’ll talk. How can you the U WON’T bring back hardcore gamers? Many developers want to develop something for it.

They have all gone to the PS3 and 360. The only “core” gamers that are intrested in the Wii U are people who loved the Wii.

Personally, I don’t like games like CoD, Mass Effect or Fallout for the PS3/Xbox360. Those are not core games. No good music, no good story, too easy. I know because I’ve tired them, and I don’t like them.

But Nintendo have good music, good gameplay, good story, and a decent difficulty.

You can’t say that all has gone to the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Wii and Wii U has nothing in common except that Nintendo has created them both, nothing more.

Say whatever you type Joseph from UK, but I believe in Nintendo this time.
Why would they give us false announcement like that if it wouldn’t be true?

If you type anything about money, Nintendo already has lots of that. And Shigeru Miyamoto said no to an offer about rise in salary.

If you saying that CoD, ME, and Fallout is core gaming, than I suggest you to try Skyward Sword when it get released. and it’s on the Wii, not Wii U.
They’ve already begun my friend. Getting the core gamers back.
We’ll just have to see if the 3rd parties will get the core gamers back too.

Either you or I am wrong in this matter.

It won’t bring back the RPG fans in NA, that’s certain.

After so much shovelware released out there for the Wii,Nintendo will surely have an uphill struggle with the Wii-U.This will depend on the games that’ll be available at launch and if there are core games among them, and in the long run if they’re willing to supply constant a stream of core titles at regular -and not too distant- time frames.
Core users want to see core games released frequently that’s for sure. That’s why 3rd parties are very importnat to Nintendo right now.
