SEGA wouldn’t bring Aliens to Wii U if it was “inferior”

In a recent interview with Nintendo Connect Sega’s Craig Harris has hinted that the Wii U is not inferior to the current generation of consoles. It seems quite obvious that the Wii U will not be inferior to the PS3 and Xbox 360 but last month the internet was awash with rumours that the Wii U was not as powerful as this gen’s current HD consoles. According to Games Industry, one game developer working with the Wii U told them:

No, it’s not up to the same level as the PS3 or the 360. What does that mean? The graphics are just not as powerful.

Another developer also seemed to have the opinion that the Wii U wasn’t as powerful as the PS3 or Xbox 360.

Yeah, that’s true. It doesn’t produce graphics as well as the PS3 or the 360. There aren’t as many shaders, it’s not as capable. Sure, some things are better, mostly as a result of it being a more modern design. But overall the Wii U just can’t quite keep up.

But Sega’s Craig Harris seems to have a different view and explains that they wouldn’t be bringing Aliens: Colonial Marines to the Wii U if it was inferior to this generation’s HD consoles:

I don’t think we would be bringing the game to a system that would be inferior to current gen. (HD) systems.

You never doubted the Wii U was inferior?! 😮 how dare your?!

Only joking i get what you mean 😛

On a serious note I want to know the specs too it will end a lot of debates

  2. Wii U Dragon

I’ve come to the conclusion that the Wii U is only as capable as the PS3 but ive already gotten over that its games that will be key to its success not graphics.

  3. the wiiu is only 20% weaker than the xbox720 and that is power wise not graphics so the wiiu will be strong and will cost 300-350 and that is guaranteed ok so have fun 😀

When did they release tech specs for Durango?

  4. Deuce

Let’s stop stressing over an absurd issue like power and just worry about whether we’re going to get really awesome games.

ok is not weeker but it will have power to go head to head with the new consoles? i dont want another wii that do not have games at all just nintendo games wich is good that is why i have a wii but it will be good to have a nintendo console like the snes that i can play all games plus nintendo games

  6. I never took stock in those silly rumors anyways. I mean think about it. Why would Nintendo make a console less powerful then the Xbox 360 and PS3 for the next generation?

  7. Nintendoftw

less power than last generation= stupid
    Nintendo= smart
solution? Nintendo will beat PS360 or they die

I think this one is pretty easy to break down. Anonymous source = WiiU is underpowered. Actually developer, working with a WiiU dev kit, on a WiiU game, which has been confirmed = Why would we develop for an inferior system. These rumors always fly around when Nintendo is getting ready to launch a console. With all the years that have passed since the Wii, 360, and Ps3, rest assured a new console will be able to outpace 6-8 year old tech.

News like this is trashy and ridiculous. Namesless developers who give no solid technical information are having there comments spready around on a banner while every single “real” developer with an actual name who said otherwise is completely written off.

This type of news reporting is trashy and disgusting. Though, I guess it draws way more attention. That is probably why so many news reporting sites jump behind it.

Negative news about Nintendo makes more money than positive news.
