“Project Cars” slated for the Wii U

Project Cars (tentative title), a racing simulation game, might be coming to the Wii U as well as the Xbox 360 and PS3. The game, which is currently in development, is uniquely using community feedback to improve and change the game.

The whole point of WMD was creating a game where you’re listening more to the fans than you are to the publisher. I don’t want to suggest that publishers are evil, but we’d rather ask the community what cars they want in the game and what tracks they want in the game, and then we know that the game we’re making is the one that these people want to buy.

Players sign up to a website called World of Mass Development and are granted access to regularly released builds of the game. They are then free to comment on how the game can be improved.

Project Cars is set to release in 2013.

Rumour: UK racing studio commits to annual Wii U projects

Wii U Racing Games

There’s a rumour floating around claiming that “a prominent UK racing studio has committed to support Wii U with one project each year.”

Who this developer may be is anyone’s guess, but current speculation indicates Sumo Digital (F1 2011, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing) and Codemasters (DiRT, Race Driver) as possibilities. A DiRT game was announced for the Wii U last year, and there have been rumblings of a Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing 2.

Biker Bash in development for Wii U?

According to a PDF that was posted on NeoGaf, Slightly Mad Studios (Project Cars) are developing the game Biker Bash for the Wii U as well as other consoles. The PDF document describes the game as a:

bike racing game that combines classic gameplay from titles like Road Rash/MotorStorm with modern fighting mechanics from Street Fighter IV/Fight Night and drags it kicking and screaming into the 21st Century with next-gen graphics, gameplay, and social features… all at a downloadable price point.

The game will supposedly have local (split screen) and online multiplayer gameplay. There has been no official confirmation as of yet.
