Expect “big” third-party announcements for Project Café

Shane Satterfield, GameTrailers’ Editor-in-Chief, says he’s heard that there will be lots of third-party titles announced for Project Café. I have kind of heard some things through the grapevine there is going to be some big third-party announcements for Nintendo’s new console at the show, there’s no doubt about that. Awesome third-party support is one […]

Everything we know about Project Café (so far)

Newbs of Splodinator.com has emailed an article of his in to me, which I thought would be worth featuring on Wii 2 Blog. In the works since April 25th – the day Nintendo officially announced the Wii’s successor – Newbs’s piece serves as a all-in-one compilation of all the rumours, news, and “facts” we know […]

Tecmo Koei wants to have games ready for the Wii 2’s launch

Yoichi Erikawa, Tecmo Koei’s CEO, mentioned at an earnings briefing today that he wants to support the Wii 2’s launch with a few games from his company. He noted that Tecmo Koei has a solid reputation for being able to have games ready for new hardware platform launches, most recently having brought us Samurai Warriors: […]

First (fake) screenshots of Grand Theft Auto 5

I stumbled across two (probably fake) pictures of Grand Theft Auto V. A rumour that has proven to be popular is that the sequel to Grand Theft Auto IV is going to be a launch title for Project Café. This is supposed to be our first look at the game, but it’s much more likely […]

Nintendo wants to shed their perception as a ‘kiddie’ company

This story isn’t directly related to the Wii’s successor outright, but it’s still relevant and a great cause for speculation nonetheless. Not too long ago, THQ announced that Saints Row: Drive By had been canceled for the 3DS as well as every other platform it was in development for. Interestingly, last June, THQ spoke about […]

What 4 developers want from the Wii 2

IndustryGamers was fortunate enough to get several developers to give them their thoughts on what they wanted to see in the Wii’s successor. Three of them made it clear that they really wanted to see an improved online infrastructure for distributing downloadable games, and two were down for a more powerful system. Augmented reality and […]

Grand Theft Auto may be revealed for Wii 2 at E3?

Out of all the rumours that have been flying around about the Wii’s successor, one of the more popular ones has been that Rockstar Games has a Project Café development kit, which led many people to the conclusion that they’re developing Grand Theft Auto V for it (and it still seems a likely possibility, even […]

IGN “predicts” the Project Cafe launch lineup

Nintendo has taken on a fair amount of criticism after the 3DS’s launch, in that the selection of games for the system was mediocre at best. I’m sure a lot of you will agree that we don’t want the Wii’s successor to suffer from the same launch blues next year that the 3DS did. With this in […]

Emily Rogers’ fishy list of Project Café developers

Remember Emily Rogers? Sure you do. After all, she’s given us some of the most interesting stories about Project Café in the past couple of weeks. Now, though, she’s hung her credibility over a cliff with a document she just published. It is supposedly a list of third-parties with Wii 2 dev kits that Nintendo […]

Has EA been developing for Project Café since August 2010?

A listing on LinkedIn (dug up by PixlBit) seems to confirm some very interesting information. Timothy Randall, a programmer at EA, apparently worked on audio support for an “unannounced Nintendo platform” as far back as August 2010. The 3DS had definitely been announced by that point, so that leaves Project Café as the only possibility. […]
