Ten Ninja Gaiden 3 screenshots

Sometimes, I feel like half the articles I post are about Ninja Gaiden 3. I wish other developers would start releasing screenshots, trailers, and information about their Wii U projects!

Anyway, we’ve got 10 new screenshots of the game, which I’ve embedded after the break. Check them out!

Two Tribes have given us nine seconds of Toki Tori 2‘s opening sequence (embedded above). Though details on the game are slim, we know that the developers intend to make use of the Wii U controller’s touchscreen to incorporate a real-time level editor.

Assassin’s Creed 3 confirmed for Wii U

Ubisoft just confirmed via press release that Assassin’s Creed 3 is, in fact, coming to the Wii U.

With a development cycle of over three years and twice the production capacity of any previous Ubisoft game, Assassin’s Creed III is set to release on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Windows PC and is also in development for Wii U™ from Nintendo.

The press release cited a release date of October 31, but the wording of the above statement makes it sound as if the Wii U version is in a separate development stream and might come out later. I’m just speculating here, of course, but Ubisoft might not know the Wii U’s exact release date yet and thus be hesitant to provide an exact date for that version of the game.

You can read the full press release after the break, if you’re interested.

The Wii U controller “resonated” with Ubisoft

Ghost Recon Online

It’s no secret that Ubisoft love the Wii U. But while you might be quick to dismiss this as corporate excitement at getting another platform to pump heaps of shovelware out on, Ubisoft’s Hugues Ricour proves that the company truly sees potential in the new console.

The new controller especially resonated with us – for us it is the physical manifestation of the Cross Com 2.0 device. It is an actual physical device that elite forces around the world carry with them to give them a tactical advantage. With Ghost Recon Online Wii U, it’s not just tactical, but also tactile – the Cross Com and its entire arsenal of cool new tech are now literally at your fingertips.

The “Cross Com 2.0” is an electronic tactical map in Ghost Recon Online that will help players develop strategies and plans for attack. Markers placed on the map by the player’s fingertips will appear in the world on the TV as beacons or icons.

Ricour also mentioned a social network known as “GhostNet”, which he bills as “a handheld window into online activity”. It will be accessible entirely from the touchscreen controller and will facilitate communication with fellow players of the game and the ability to set up matches.

Assassin’s Creed 3 – Official Cover Art Revealed

Assassin's Creed 3 Cover Art

There is a very strong possibility that Assassin’s Creed 3 will come to the Wii U, and Ubisoft have just released the game’s official box art (above). It very much supports earlier rumours that the game would take place at some point around the American Revolution.

In addition to releasing the above cover, Ubisoft have also set up this countdown timer for “a major announcement”. So it looks like we can expect a lot more news on this game soon!

The Killer Freaks team didn’t see a Wii U controller until the day before E3

Killer Freaks From Outer Space

Guillaume Brunier, a Ubisoft producer, shared that the team working on Killer Freaks From Outer Space did not even see the Wii U controller until the day before E3!

The Killer Freaks team worked with the early Wii U dev kits before E3, but even we hadn’t seen the actual device until a day before the show.

I’m not sure what to be more impressed by – Nintendo’s absolute secrecy with the device, even towards one of their largest third-party supporters; or the fact that Ubisoft pulled off one heck of a show with the hardware. Either way, they deserve some major props for this.

Ghost Recon Online – “Recon Class” Trailer

Ghost Recon Online - Recon Class

Ubisoft released a trailer for Ghost Recon Online focusing on the game’s Recon class. Watch it after the break!

Moving to a new server

If you see this, you are now connected to Galaxy, my new server!

Just a little heads-up – I’m moving Wii U Go and TheWiiU.com to my new server with CleverKite. There should be very little downtime, as I’ve set the TTL’s on both domains to 5 minutes; but don’t be alarmed if the sites remain inaccessible for 24-48 hours.

The new server uses solid state disks instead of hard drives, which means you can expect a serious improvement in page loading times. If you want to get a feel for just how fast it is, check out MLP Forums, which has been running on the new server since yesterday.
