Wii U rumored to cost around $300

With the Wii U’s development cost being rumored at approximately $180 per unit, including controller components, an anonymous source indicates that it may come to retail at no less than $300, a higher mark on the price chart than Nintendo are known for. Nintendo’s new controller for the console is valued at roughly $50, making up nearly 30% of the overall development cost alone.

While $300 is a new high for Nintendo, the price is reasonable from a consumer’s standpoint, with Microsoft initially launching their Xbox 360 at a price point of no less than $300 and Sony’s PlayStation 3 launching around $500. Taking into account that the original Wii’s initial price was $250, the jump isn’t necessarily a huge one, especially given that the new controller fills in the gap with its development cost, on top of the Wii U’s higher specifications and capabilities.

This is still just a rumor at the moment, but it’s not far from the realm of possibility that this console could be Nintendo’s most expensive one yet. Does this possibility affect your decision to purchase it at launch? Leave a comment and let us know.

Capcom says “no Resident Evil 6 for Wii U right now”

Capcom has gone on record saying that Resident Evil 6 is not to be released for the Wii U, at least not in the same timeframe as its release for the PlayStation 3 and XBox 360. Hiroyuki Kobayashi said,

Unfortunately, RE6 will not be available at this time on the Wii U. Right now we’re concentrating on the PlayStation 3 version, 360 version and the PC version of the game.

This doesn’t mean Resident Evil 6 will never come to the Wii U, but at the present time, they’re concentrating solely on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 releases of the game.

Assassin’s Creed 3 Japanese trailer

A new Japanese trailer for Assassin’s Creed III has been released. At the end of the trailer, however, only the logos of the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are shown, despite the game being released for the Wii U. This could possibly be because of the unknown official release date for the Wii U’s version of the game.

Check it out after the break.

Assassin’s Creed 3 to be released on October 31st?

A new rumor is floating around, coming from a Dutch press release said to have come from Ubisoft themselves,  saying, “Assassin’s Creed III is available as from October 31 on Xbox 360 ®, PlayStation ® 3, Wii U™ and PC.”

However, this differs from the press release in North America which offers no release date for Assassin’s Creed III. This news comes from the same press release which mentioned how many pre-orders for the game have been made within its first three weeks available. If this statement is true, it would either mean the game will be released on three of the four platforms on October 31st, not including the Wii U, or that the Wii U will be released prior to October 31st.

Although Nintendo has made a statement saying the Wii U will be released around this years holiday season, a date before October 31st does seem a bit early for the Wii U’s release. Currently, the release date is only a rumor as the Dutch press release does in fact differ from other Ubisoft press releases.

Two Tribes Games says Steam Cloud support was only a follower suggestion

A few days ago, Two Tribes Games had tweeted, “Cross platform PC/Wii U saves! Wouldn’t that be nice.” but now they’ve made a statement on Twitter to clarify their previous tweet. “‘@Emi1yRogers: Is that really going to happen? Steam support on Wii U? Oh my god.’ It’s a suggestion from a follower, nothing more, sorry!”

Unfortunately, this means that there is currently no released official announcement of Steam Cloud support on the Wii U. One could speculate that it is still possible, but we will have to wait and see.

Assassin’s Creed III to be most pre-ordered Ubisoft game ever

Earlier today, Ubisoft released information pertaining to pre-orders for the popular game, Assassin’s Creed III. Within the three weeks the game has been available for pre-order in North America, it has exceeded the reserve amount for previous games in the series within the same timeframe.

Although Ubisoft did not release any information pertaining to the Wii U launch of the game, things look bright for it, which will no doubt play a part in sales figures for the Wii U when it is released on the platform.
