Nintendo’s Press Conference @ E3 2012

Wii U E3 Countdown

(want one of these countdowns for yourself?)

Nintendo’s E3 2012 press conference is just around the corner, and it is poised to host the Wii U’s greatest showing yet. Last year’s reveal was little more than a teaser – Nintendo are saving the goods for this year’s show, and you can bet it’s gonna be a rocking good one.

The conference is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, June 5 at 9:00 AM Pacific Time (that’s GMT-8 – convert it to your local time here, or just look up at the countdown timer above). As the web’s oldest Wii U blog and resource, Wii U Go will be bringing you all the latest news from the conference right as it happens.

Although we will be blogging throughout the conference, there’s nothing better than seeing the real thing, so the best place to watch it live is over at e3.nintendo.com.

After the conference ends, we’ll continue to bring you updates from other events like roundtables, interviews, and discoveries on the show floor. Subscribing to our newsletter, if you haven’t done so already, is the course of action I’d recommend to stay on top of it all.

See you soon!

Introducing the Wii U Games Database

Wii U Games Database

Here’s what I’ve been working on for the past little while. Just in time for Nintendo’s E3 press conference, I’m proud to unveil our Wii U Games Database!

At the moment, it is little more than a list of Wii U games interconnected with all the articles, screenshots, and videos we’ve posted about them. But the core code powering the database is in place, and you can expect to see lots of changes and improvements to it over time.

If there is anything in particular you’d like to see from the database, feel free to sound off in the comments and I’ll see what I can do. If you notice a missing game, release date, or other piece of info, please let me know about it as well.

But even in its current state, it serves as a handy way to keep track of every single Wii U game in existence. Enjoy!

E3, here we come!

Good morning everybody. We hope you slept well and are ready for the big day! The Nintendo E3 conference begins at 9:00 AM PST and we’ll be bringing you articles as the news happens. Remember to tune in for the big show and we hope you guys enjoy the ride.

Every E3 attendant is a walking ad for the Wii U & 3DS

Above is this year’s E3 press badge. As you can see, it features Nintendo-themed lanyards advertising the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Even the character Teddy from Persona is there.

I wonder how much money Nintendo paid to get this exclusive ad space. At any rate, it’s a humorous thought that every single E3 attendant this year is carrying the Nintendo love.

Info on the Wii U version of Project CARS is inbound

You may be familiar with Project CARS, the photorealistic racing simulator that is coming to several platforms, including the Wii U. I see a lot of you always get excited whenever I share new screenshots from the game, so you’ll be pleased to hear that the Wii U version of the game will have a presence at E3. Expect more details in the coming days!

If you haven’t been keeping up with Project CARS (or just want to feast your eyes on the gorgeous graphics), you can see everything we’ve published about it in the past here.

Our first peek at the Wii U’s achievements system?

Super Mario Wii U

See that yellow “Cleared in under 100 second!” bubble in the above screenshot? Word on the street has it that this is our first look at the Wii U’s achievement system. The screenshot of what appears to be New Super Mario Bros. Mii comes from Iwata’s Nintendo Direct presentation.

While it is unknown whether it is a real game or not, it looks quite polished and I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if it turned out to be a launch title. We’ll find out tomorrow!

A closer look at Nintendo Direct’s zombie “game”

One of GoNintendo’s readers took some decent-looking screenshots of the zombie-themed “game” that was shown during the GamePad trailer in yesterday’s Nintendo Direct presentation. Glimpses of the TV screen were interspersed very briefly between shots of the living room, and you can check the shots out for yourself after the break.

Chasing Aurora is launching first on the Wii U eShop

Indie studio Broken Rules (the minds behind 2009’s And Yet It Moves)  announced today that their newest game, Chasing Aurora, is launching on the Wii U eShop first. Due for release in late 2012, Chasing Aurora is described as “an aerial action game that is set in the thin air of the Alps.” The open-world gameplay features physics-based flight and airborne combat; and the game has a remarkable, cardboard-like art style.

In addition, there are at least 4 multiplayer modes, some of which are specifically designed to take advantage of the Wii U GamePad.

Broken Rules have released a batch of screenshots and two trailers for the game, all of which you can find after the break.
