We’re a mere 15 hours away from Nintendo’s press conference, and the above, purportedly leaked image of Metroid Prime 4 running on the Wii U has popped up on NeoGAF.
Fake or not? I’m leaning towards fake, personally – it looks like a slightly modified version of the Metroid Prime Trilogy start screen, and the low, grainy resolution could be an attempt to cover up the photoshopping artifacts.

It’s been revealed by the director of Assassins Creed III that you will not only be fighting the Tempers as you have in the past games, and also not only the British forces, but both sides of the Revolutionary War. The game will be spanning thirty years before, during, and after the war. You have no side except your own.
It’s been revealed that Your Shape, ZombiU, Rayman Legends, Assassins Creed III, Sports Connection, Just Dance 4, and Rabbids Land will all be released for the Wii U. Remember the Miiverse, the messaging system for the Wii U? You can use it in games as well. It’s unclear how this will affect gameplay, but this may be related to the new Nintendo Network for the Wii U as well. Point is, you can message other friends and players in the midst of a game, so that is definitely something to be interested in.
Nintendo has revealed a controller for the Wii U without a tablet screen. This is sure to appease people who have been complaining about the screen on the controller. This controller, called the “Wii U Pro” controller, resembles a classic home console controller, for those looking for a classic control scheme, your wish has been granted.
Iwata talked quite a bit about the Wii U’s messaging system today, which is called Miiverse. It is a core feature of the operating system, which allows it to be accessed at any time in any software title, even if the game doesn’t offer any online functionality of its own. There’s a ton of information and screenshots of it, which you can find all after the break.
The above screen, dubbed “Mii Wara Wara,” is the screen you see when you boot up to the Wii U. It is filed with your Mii, the Miis of other accounts on your Wii U, your friends’ Miis, and other Miis from your region enjoying the same games as you.
A black Wii U controller was shown on Nintendo Direct today. Normally, I would say that Nintendo haven’t announced any such details yet, but we know that the Wii U is being shown in its final retail form this year, so I think it’s safe to say that this black controller is an actual retail unit.
