More footage of Toki Tori 2

Toki Tori

After that first nine-second teaser, Two Tribes have put together a proper two-and-a-half-minute video of Toki Tori 2 in time for GDC 2012. The charming art style looks as cute as ever, and the animations are incredibly fluid, especially considering that the game is still very much in development.

Dragon Quest X’s job system detailed

Accompanying today’s batch of screenshots were some details on Dragon Quest X Online‘s job system. The jobs players take on will allow them to make specific items and embark on quests related to their position, some of which will change on a daily basis.

You get a job by registering at an in-game location called the Guild House, after which you’ll immediately acquire the ability to create items, which you can either use yourself or sell for a profit. Recipes, however, are required to create items, which can be purchased from shops and found in secret locations.

The actual creation of items is done through mini-games. Now, I know some of you might wince just by hearing that word, but I personally think that a well-crafted mini-game will feel much more personal and rewarding than a simple “click here to make this item” mechanism.

As you gain experience in your job, you’ll level up and learn skills specific to your job, which will in turn allow you to easily create more valuable items.

Is BioShock Infinite coming to the Wii U?

BioShock Infinite Logo

A rumour has been floating around that Ken Levine of Irrational Games is working on a Wii U version of BioShock Infinite. While it might sound plausible, Irrational stated very clearly last June that they don’t have any plans whatsoever for the Wii U, so I wouldn’t count on it.

Plans change, however, and Nintendo Gamer claim that Levine has something in the works for the console now. It might not necessarily be BioShock Infinite, but it’s a step up from what he told us at E3.

Warren Spector to reveal “epic project” on March 27th

Epic Mickey Logo

Warren Spector, the creator of Epic Mickey, is planning to unveil a new, “epic project” at an invite-only press conference on March 27th. Epic Mickey 2 is known to have been in development for a while, and we heard just a few weeks ago that it was coming to the Wii U. Chances are that this is the project Spector plans to reveal on that day.

As always, I’ll keep you posted on all the details we get.

Shin’en Multimedia has a Wii U dev kit

Shin'en Multimedia Logo

Shin’en Multimedia have updated their website to show off that they’re now in possession of a Wii U dev kit. They haven’t announced any Wii U projects yet, but they wouldn’t go to the trouble of becoming a licensed Wii U developer if they didn’t mean to make any games for it!

Welcome to Shin’en’s web-site. If you’re interested in our services and productions, you’ve come to the right place.
Shin’en was founded in 1999. We develop high quality games for WiiUNintendo 3DS,WiiNintendo DSGame Boy Advance and Game Boy Color using proprietary tools.

In case you aren’t familiar with them, Shin’en is a German studio that is probably best known for the stunning WiiWare hit Jett Rocket and the gorgeous 3DS shooter Nano Assault. They previously expressed interest in developing for the Wii U last December, dubbing it an “ingenious platform”.

Lots of Assassin’s Creed 3 info coming on March 23rd

Assassin's Creed 3 Logo

The magazine Nintendo Gamer claims that it is among the first publications to see the Wii U build of Assassin’s Creed 3, and they’ve promised an in-depth exclusive feature on the game in their next issue, which will be hitting the newsstands on March 23. To hype it up, they’ve revealed the following blurb regarding the use of the controller’s touchscreen as a teaser:

We don’t have to guess – we already know. The touch screen will be used for the game’s ‘Eagle Vision’ and will also display a persistent map. Fast-switching weapons will also be handled with the touch screen and there will be an interactive database to browse through. Finally, some puzzles will be implemented, which you’ll have to solve using the touch screen.

I’ll keep an eye out for the issue and will post up the details it reveals as soon as they appear online. If you don’t want to miss it, I suggest subscribing to the blog’s mailing list.

Assassin’s Creed 3 will feature online multiplayer, co-op, and DLC

Assassin’s Creed 3 will offer much more than a single-player experience, with the game’s listing on Xbox.com touting online multiplayer and co-op modes for 2-8 players as well as DLC.

These additions have not been explicitly confirmed for the Wii U version of the game, but there is no reason to believe they won’t make it in, considering that it is a technically superior console to the current HD twins.

New screenshots of Project CARS

Lots of new screenshots have been released of Project CARS, the beautiful racing simulator coming to the Wii U. It looks better every time I see it!
