What Zelda: Wind Waker on the Wii U could be like

zelda wind

Cubed3tv have made an interesting video demonstrating ideas on how the the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker could make use of the Wii U’s Gamepad. If you can ignore the Gamecube graphics then the unofficial mock-up does showcase some interesting thoughts, such as using the touchscreen for attacking, moving, selecting items and rolling and using the motion control for more precise aiming.

See below for the Cubed3tv video.

Will Deus Ex: Human Revolution be coming to Wii U?

deus ex

A rumour has emerged that Square Enix’s sci-fi game Deus Ex: Human Revolution is going to be ported to the Wii U console. The news has come to light due to the fact that a listing of the game has appeared on the Australian Ratings Board. Although no console has been mentioned it’s a relatively safe bet that if it is being ported it will be coming to the Wii U.

Third party offerings on the Wii U have been slim of late and it would be interesting to see how the game would make use of the Wii U’s unique features. Not to get too excited, but there also seems to be some news to back up this rumour.

Assassin’s Creed 4’s Wii U Gamepad features are not yet defined

Assassin's Creed 4

It was recently announced that the newest title in the Assassin’s Creed franchise would be making it’s way to the Wii U. However,  news about exactly how the game will make use of the Wii U’s Gamepad is non-existent. It now seems that Ubisoft are still developing concepts in regards to the Wii U.

Ubisoft’s Carsten Myhill shared his thought’s on the matter:

It’s fair to say we’ll be using it for expecting things, like the map. But we’re always looking for new ways to incorporate and utilise this technology. I’m sure we’ll be revealing more information on that in the coming weeks.

Let’s hope Ubisoft come up with something a bit more interesting than using the Gamepad as a map over the coming weeks.

Ubisoft thinks the Wii U needs to “sell more”

Ubisoft

This statement is unsurprising coming after Ubisoft’s change of heart in releasing their new platformer Rayman Legends as a Wii U exclusive. In an interview with MCV, the CEO of Ubisoft Yves Guillemot, shared his thoughts on the Nintendo’s newest home console.

We think Wii U is a great machine. But it just has to sell more.

It’s great to see that Ubisoft are supporting the Wii U even with it’s need to “sell more” with the upcoming Assassin’s Creed 4 and Watch Dogs titles.

Resident Evil: Revelations

It has been revealed that the Resident Evil: Revelations port making its way to the Wii U will contain the “Infernal” difficulty mode. The new hardcore difficulty mode promises “remixed”  item and enemy placement.

With HD visuals, new modes and online co-op play it seems like the title is shaping up quite nicely.

Why Crysis 3 for the Wii U was cancelled

Crysis 3

We’ve been reporting on the relationship between Crytek and the Wii U since 2011 when Cevat Yerli pretty much confirmed his support for the Wii U. Although Crytek’s Carl Jones said he wasn’t sure about Nintendo’s “hardcore” strategy. Then in 2012 Crytek’s director of creative development, Rasmus Hoejengaard seems to suggest that it was unlikely that their new game Crysis 3 would make it to the Wii U.

Bringing it up to 2013, it seems that Crysis 3 was almost ready to be launched on the console until the project was cancelled. CEO of Crytek, Cevat Yerli explains this was due to a “lack of business support”.

New Wii U system update released

Wii U controller

Earlier this year, the president of Nintendo Satoru Iwata, admitted that the loading times of their newest console could do with some improvements:

We recognise that the time it takes to launch software and to return to the menu screen is one of the biggest issues on Wii U. We are going top improve it incrementally in two stages with these updates.

Don’t jump out of your seats yet though as it seems that this particular update may not make a noticeable difference to loading times and is more of an update that will add “further improvements to overall system stability”. However, Nintendo have previously announced that more updates will be coming later this year. Hopefully, the speed increase will grace our Wii Us sooner rather than later.
